Safer Space Policy Vogrie Pogrie
At Vogrie Pogrie, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all attendees, performers, staff, and volunteers. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy the festival experience free from harassment, discrimination, or any form of harm. To ensure the well-being of our community, we have established the following Safer Space Policy:
1. Respect and Consent:
● Treat everyone with respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, or any other characteristic.
● Obtain consent before engaging in any physical contact, including hugs, touching, or dancing with others.
● Respect personal boundaries.
● Be mindful of your words and actions, avoiding any behavior that could be offensive, discriminatory, or harmful to others.
2. Harassment and Discrimination:
● Harassment, including but not limited to verbal, physical, or sexual harassment, will not be tolerated.
● Discrimination or derogatory language towards any individual or group based on their identity will not be tolerated.
● Report any incidents of harassment or discrimination to the Event Management Team immediately. We will take all reports seriously and ensure a thorough investigation.
3. Bystander Intervention:
● We encourage everyone to be an active bystander and intervene if they witness any inappropriate or harmful behavior.
● Support and assist others who may be experiencing harassment or distress, while respecting their wishes and boundaries.
● Do not retaliate against anyone who reports an incident. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all.
4. Alcohol and Substance Use:
● Drink responsibly and be mindful of your alcohol consumption. Excessive drinking or substance abuse can impair judgment and increase the likelihood of unsafe situations.
● Report any suspicious or concerning behavior related to substance use to the Event
Management Team.
5. Personal Belongings and Safety:
● Take responsibility for your personal belongings and ensure their security.
● If you feel unsafe or encounter an emergency situation, seek assistance from the Event
Management Team.
● Follow all safety instructions including emergency evacuation procedures.
6. Compliance and Consequences:
● Failure to comply with this Safer Space Policy may result in warnings, ejection from the festival, or legal action, depending on the severity of the offense.
If you have a concern about any of the above please let the duty manager or any of the festival management know. The lead for Vogrie Pogrie’s Safer Space initiative is Nikki Orrell. All matters will be dealt with in a respectful, sensitive and professional manner.
By attending Vogrie Pogrie you agree to abide by this Safer Space Policy and contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive environment. Together, we make this festival a memorable and safe experience for everyone.
